Styling A Kitchen

Tips on styling the kitchen

  • Keep a bare minimum of items on the bench tops such as a cook book or a large bowl of fruit, gourmet olive oil or a quality bottle of red wine
  • Make the appliances, bench tops and cupboards shine! Clean them so they gleam, including the inside of your cupboards!
  • Wash the skirting boards to remove scuff marks, etc
  • Polish fixtures, dust ceiling fans and replace burned-out light bulbs
  • Avoid cooking food that has strong odours until after your house has sold. However the smell of freshly brewed coffee or baked bread can create a very homely feel
  • Never ever leave dirty dishes in the sink or the dishwasher
  • Clean the dishwasher to ensure it is odour free
  • If door knobs are worn or outdated, it doesn’t cost much at all to replace them and give the kitchen a fresh look
  • Arrange crockery in the cupboards so they’re neat and symmetrical
  • Keep dish cloths and cleaning products in the cupboard
  • Get rid of magnets, photos or notes attached to the refrigerator
  • Smaller tables make eat-in kitchen spaces appear larger
  • If the dining area is spacious, set the table for an intimate breakfast for two
  • Don't block windows, let in all the light
